Itchin for a britchen

I am packing into the mountains this summer and I need to know how to properly rig a britchen. I have one off my Dads old harness and i will be using a saw buck. I think i need to build tugs that go straight from the britchen to the riggin, they are gone and all it has is the straps that go up over his ass to hold it up. I assume it should sit below the round hip muscles so it doesnt ride up under his tail, and these straps hook to the saw buck?, or down to the riggin? It must rig on in 2 places? Any advice is welcome

Hi Gord, You should have 2 quarter straps on each side, one to go to the rigging ring as you mentioned and the other will go to the cinch ring. You should have 2 hip drop straps that run from the back pad that sits on top of the croup to the britchen. Having 2 straps will allow you to adjust the britchen to the proper angle to match the curve of the back of the butt. You can go to my website www.horseandmulegear.com to see the proper adjustment, and I would think you could probably figure it out from there, but feel free to contact me if you have any questions.
