Chap Making Pros

Cow Camp Saddlery is a small custom leather shop located near Lusk Wyoming, where I manage a ranch with my wife of 19 years, and 2 boys Jeremiah and Joseph. We make the items you need to your specifications by hand using only the best leathers that we can buy. We cut it out by hand one piece at a time, then tool the pattern that you like. We then hand rub all the edges. We can make most anything that you might need.

I did leather craft in 4-H for a few years, then in 1987 while in high school I needed good gear, but was a high school kid with no money. At the time I was working for area ranchers and taking in outside colts to ride. I took an old pair of my dad's batwing chaps and cut them down into a pair of chinks, what a crud pair that was. I have learned by trial and error, reading books, and studying other makers gear. Now with 20+ years, I have made some nice gear for myself and others. I like to know how the gear I make fits, how comfortable it is, how long it lasts, and if it works. The cow work, horse work, and trail riding with the family here on the ranch allows me to test the gear that I make on a regular bases. I have competed in ranch roping's, ranch rodeos, team roping's, and other horse related events, where I can gain many new ideas to make my gear even better.God has given me a wonderful family, a good job, and a talent that I hope to share with you.

Wyoming is a beautiful state to raise a family and to live in, no matter what direction we look we always see the Lord's amazing beauty.

You're welcome at our camp any time, we'll throw out the extra bedrolls, toss more beans in the kettle and the coffee pot is always on the fire.

    Tim Kleffner

Tim got started in leather back at age 13 in 7th grade with a Tandy kit. He only made a few pieces each year following. But in 2000 he got a bit more serious and purchesed his first leather sewing machine, a Ferdco Pro 2000 and began making making utilitarian pouches and cases. [ ohm meter pouches cell phone cases and belts]. In 2002 TIm started to change over and learn leather tooling as an art. Decided to go with Sheridan style and made a phone call to Chan Geer. They communicated back and forth phone/mail. Chan invited me up in 2003 and has been his teacher, mentor and friend friend ever since. Tim goes to Sheridan WY in May each year and each year has new and different lesson. He works within the Sheridan style guidelines.
